Santa Rosa military movers can make your military move a cinch. Getting PCS orders is always difficult, especially when you have a family or a lot of items to move. No matter how many times you’ve moved during your career, the move process doesn’t get easier. You have to schedule your move, prepare your belongings, and lift bulky and difficult items by yourself.

A Santa Rosa military moving company makes the relocation process easy. We at Mentors Moving train each member of our Santa Rosa military moving crew to provide efficient support, including logistics, delivery, and inspection. We serve Santa Rosa, all of Sonoma County, and the Santa Rosa-Petaluma metropolitan area. Here’s what to know about our Santa Rosa military movers. Thank you for your service!

What Is a Santa Rosa Military Move?

There are three main types of Santa Rosa military moves. These types of moves include Santa Rosa Army moves, Santa Rosa Navy moves, Santa Rosa Air Force moves, and Santa Rosa Marines moves. Here’s what to know about the different types of relocations you can order.

Santa Rosa PCS Moves

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves take place over 50 miles between duty stations. The move begins when a service member is issued PCS orders, which they must comply with. The PCS orders will specify when you have to be at your new duty station, but you usually have at least 120 days to arrange your move. You may move domestically or overseas. Once you’re at your duty station, you will serve there for at least two years.

For any type of move, you can contact a team of Santa Rosa PCS movers and have your items moved. Your Santa Rosa PCS movers can help you schedule your Santa Rosa PCS moves, order packing materials, and perform the heavy lifting. Your movers can perform assembly and disassembly of equipment and crates, keeping your items safe for ocean and sea travel. Your Santa Rosa PCS movers can also help you with moving to any location in California, including Novato and San Rafael.

Combination Moves

A combination move involves you moving some items while the government moves the rest. You can always hire Santa Rosa military movers to handle the items you’re responsible for, including bulky furniture. A Santa Rosa military moving company can help you with scheduling your moving day, ensuring that you and your family receive great care. You can always hire our Santa Rosa moving help and our Santa Rosa international moving company for support.

Santa Rosa PPM Moves

A Personally Procured Move (PPM) involves you packing your own bags, though the government pays for the move. You are responsible for all your items. The government will not find Santa Rosa military movers for you. You must get approval from your Transportation Office to perform Santa Rosa PPM moves.

However, you have the flexibility to hire any Santa Rosa PPM movers you want. Santa Rosa PPM moves can be full-service or partial, with your Santa Rosa PPM movers relocating only a few items or pieces of furniture. You can arrange PPM moves for a Permanent Change of Station or temporary duty.

After approving your move, the military will authorize travel time so you can take care of your travel arrangements and move into your new home with Santa Rosa Coast Guard movers.

Santa Rosa PPM movers offer all the support you need. If you’re comfortable packing but just want help with moving your items, you can hire PPM movers to perform heavy lifting. They can start loading items into your rental truck and then start unloading items at your new home. PPM movers offer local and long distance moving services with a full range of packing supplies.

Your PPM movers can assist with customs clearance, including handling documents at your origin and destination. They can also offer Santa Rosa storage services for all goods you own.

Cost of a Santa Rosa Military Move

The government will cover the cost of your Santa Rosa military move. However, officials may ask for a written Santa Rosa military moving estimate so they know how much they need to pay your Santa Rosa military moving company. Costs for a Santa Rosa military moving company can vary depending on a few factors. The longer your move is, the more expensive it will be. You should also expect the cost to be higher if you’re moving with a lot of items or need a large team of professional movers.

Overseas moves with professionals cost more than moves inside the United States. Moving items from a one or two-bedroom home to Europe can cost over $3,500, while moving the same items to Asia and Africa can cost over $4,000.

The government provides a few different allowances to cover the cost of your move. Here are just some of the allowances you can use for Santa Rosa moving.

Dislocation Allowance

Dislocation Allowance (DLA) is a flat-rate allowance that covers some of your moving costs. DLA amounts vary from year to year, but you can use the DLA to cover any major expense.

Monetary Allowance in Lieu of Transportation (MALT)

Monetary Allowance in Lieu of Transportation (MALT) covers your travel expenses when you drive to your new duty station. Your family can also receive MALT. You can receive $0.16 per mile between your two duty stations.

Move-in Housing Allowance (MIHA)

The Move-In Housing Allowance (MIHA) reimburses you for overseas moves. The allowance covers the cost of rent, modifications you make for security, and costs associated with making the home habitable. Rates vary depending on location and currency rates.

Per Diem Allowance

Your Per Diem Allowance covers the cost of food and lodging as you travel between duty stations. Your allowance is based on how long you’re traveling for and who is traveling with you. The expenses for service members are fully covered, while spouses are 75% covered, and children under 12 are 50% covered.

Temporary Lodging Allowance

The Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA) covers the cost of temporary housing if you need somewhere to stay while waiting for permanent housing. TLA rates are based on your pay grade, who is living with you, and where you’re living.

Temporary Lodging Expense

Your Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) covers the cost of meals and lodging while you are using temporary housing. It’s available only for moves in the Continental United States, and you can only claim up to $290 a day.

Advance Basic Pay

Advance Basic Pay is an interest-free loan you can qualify for when you get a permanent change of station move. You can draw up to three months of basic pay in advance, and you pay the loan back over 12 months.

Advance BAH

The Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) covers the cost of housing when you’re not using government barracks. An Advance BAH lets you receive money to cover the cost of moving into off-base housing. Your Commanding Officer must approve the advance, and you cannot use the money to buy a house.

Advance Overseas Housing Allowance

The Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA) offsets housing costs when you relocate overseas. An Advance OHA lets you receive the money in advance to cover the cost of moving. You can receive up to 12 months of OHA, giving you enough money to cover the entire moving process.

You can always contact your local moving company for a free quote for your upcoming move. Keep a copy of your estimate so you can give it to your Commanding Officer. No matter what moving and storage solutions you need, you will receive a hassle-free move from experienced Santa Rosa military movers. We strive to make our services for Santa Rosa Navy movers as affordable as possible.
