Relocating to a new area can be confusing, and your utilities can be even harder to figure out. We know how much of a pain setting up all the different aspects of your home is, which is why you’ll find all of the companies and utility information inside of this article to make it easier for you! Check it out so you can get your utilities and go back to binge-watching your favorite show.

Phoenix Water Utilities | City of Phoenix

Your Phoenix water utilities are through the City of Phoenix. The prices for water depends on the size of your meter and how much water you use. Your water bill is going to include a monthly service charge, a per-gallon charge, an environmental charge, and a sewer charge as well. What’s unique with Phoenix water utilities is that they charge more based on the month. This will depend on the high or low season, and City of Phoenix water rates can be looked at here.

How to set up your Phoenix water utility account

To set up your Phoenix water utility account, you’ll need to go to the city’s online website. There is a button to click that says, “Start, stop, or transfer my water.” You’ll click on that and it will take you to a new page, or you can access your monthly billing and set up your account at the link here (City of Phoenix pay online).

Phoenix Electric Utilities | SRP & APS

When it comes to setting up your Phoenix electric utilities, you have the choice between the companies SRP and APS. Both of these may service different areas, so you’ll need to check your address since Phoenix is a fairly big city. Each company comes with its pros and cons, but depending on the amount of electricity you use in Phoenix, one company may be better for you.

SRP Electric in Phoenix – Salt River Project

SRP, otherwise known as the Salt River Project, is an energy company that claims their energy is greener. This company offers a few different plans to choose from, which may benefit you if you’re looking for something flexible. Here are the SRP service plans:

  • EZ-3: If you use lower energy from 3-6 PM or 4-7 PM, you will get a discount on all other hours
  • Time-of-Use: Use less energy during the week by 7-8 hours and get a discount on all the other hours
  • Basic: Your energy is priced the same whenever you use it
  • M-Power: Prepay your bill and turn your electric on and off when needed
  • Solar: If you have solar panels, they have a plan for that as well

APS Electric in Phoenix – Arizona Public Service Electric

APS is a fairly big electric company, and most Phoenix homes will be in the service area for them. They don’t offer quite as many plans as SRP does, but their pricing is straightforward and upfront. Like SRP, they offer different pricing for the time of day that you use energy, which is typical for the Phoenix area. The APS service plans are:

  • Saver Choice: This is the best plan if you use most of your energy within the off-peak hours and off-peak months. It’s the cheapest plan, but it can be expensive during peak hours.
  • Saver Choice Max: You can save even more with this plan, but you’ll have to really limit electricity to off-peak hours and also limit your appliance use throughout the day.
  • Saver Choice Plus: While you can save even more during off-peak hours, you’ll really need to watch your appliance use and stagger the use of it.

Phoenix Trash Services | City of Phoenix

All of your Phoenix waste management is handled by the City of Phoenix. You can expect to pay about $30 a month for your waste, recycling, and green containers. Because the city of Phoenix is working on reducing the waste that they put out, if you want a larger recycling bin and smaller trash bin, you’ll say a few dollars a month. However, you can also get larger trash bins if needed or forego the green bin altogether. As you upgrade to a larger size or downgrade, your monthly charge will vary by $3-$5.
