Kroll Park is a nicely groomed dog park with large grassy areas. The city of Bakersfield keeps the grassy areas mowed and watered. The park is designed for dogs and doesn’t share space with a soccer field or playground. The area is fenced-in so the dogs can safely play off-leash. To minimize the risk of dogs escaping the enclosed area as more people and dogs enter the space, there are double gates at the entrance.

Since your dog is likely to build up a thirst with all the running around they do at the park, Kroll Park offers a drinking fountain for the dogs and another for their people! There are several benches and picnic tables around the park so you can relax while your dog burns off all their extra energy.

The lack of separate spaces for small and big dogs is a potential downside of Kroll Park. While some dog parks offer two fenced-in areas to help keep smaller dogs away from the big dogs, Kroll Park is just one large fenced-in space for all dogs to use. Most people find the dogs at this park are well-trained and their owners are friendly people who pick up after their dogs.

University Dog Park – Dog Waste Bags Provided

5am – 10pm
4301 University Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93306, (661)326-3866

The University Dog Park is a hidden east side gem with an extremely large, fenced-in grassy area for your favorite canines. It’s among the largest dog-friendly parks in Bakersfield, offering tons of room for dogs to run and play and concrete benches for you to sit on. The park supplies dog waste bags and plenty of refuse cans to make it easy for dog owners to clean up after their pups and keep the park clean, and there is a water fountain with a low bowl for dogs to hydrate themselves.

If you also have kids of the two-legged kind, they can expel some energy at the same time as your dog on the play structures located next to the dog park. The University Park offers playground equipment for both young kids and older kids.

On the downside, there are no trees to provide shade on the playground or around the dog park, and the park stays flooded for days after rain. If you bring the dogs to play after a rainstorm be prepared to give them baths before they go back in the house! Be sure to take care of business before you visit University Park because this park doesn’t have a bathroom!

Krebs Dog Park is located in San Lauren Park. The off-leash area is smaller than many of the other dog parks in Bakersfield, which makes it ideal for small dogs. You can keep an eye on your dog while he enjoys the off-leash, fenced-in area and you talk with the other dog owners. The park stays in great shape because the dog owners are very good about picking up after their pets at Krebs Dog Park.

If you’re looking for some quiet time, bring your dog to Krebs during the day when there are fewer people and dogs spending time in the park. Krebs Dog Park is open 24 hours a day so you can give your dog exercise no matter what kind of schedule you have. There are also a few trees and benches around the park for relaxing in the shade.

Centennial Dog Park – Dog Water Bowls Provided at the Front Gate

5am – 10pm
401 Fallbrook St, Bakersfield, CA 93309

Dogs run free in the completely fenced-in area of Centennial Dog Park while the kids let off steam at the playground and your teenagers shoot some hoops at the basketball court. Bring the whole family and play horseshoes or tennis while your dog makes friends with the other dogs in the park! The dog park is large, so even big breed dogs have plenty of room to play and have fun.

If you’d like to make a day of the visit to Centennial Dog Park, there are plenty of picnic tables and benches in the sitting areas. There are complimentary dog bowls at the front gate to keep your fur-babies hydrated during their visit.

Wilson Park is the best dog park in Bakersfield for hot summer days, thanks to all of the shade trees. There is a children’s playground adjacent to the dog park, but the large open space of the off-leash dog park is definitely the main attraction of Wilson Park.

The grassy area for the dogs is well-maintained and the gates are secured so you can relax and enjoy yourself knowing your dog can’t escape.

Mesa Marin Sports Complex – With Dog Park and Splash Pad

5am – 10pm
0315 CA-178, Bakersfield, CA 93306

The Mesa Marin Sports Complex is located on the east side of Bedford Green Drive between State Route 178 and Kern Canyon Road in East Bakersfield. The park offers nice views of the foothills and canyon and is known for being clean and well-kept. This park is perfect for the whole family, with BBQ grills and stone pedestals to put food on, bathrooms, and covered picnic areas. The sports complex offers baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, and a pickle court. The kids can run around on the playground equipment and if it’s hot, there is a splash park for kids. For the puppies, Mesa Marin also has a fenced-in dog park for off-leash fun.

The spray park hours are from 1pm to 6pm daily, and many people host birthday parties at the park. The dog park is open 5am to 10pm. Mesa Marin dog park doesn’t flood like University Dog Park, so it’s an ideal place to bring the doggies after rain when you don’t feel like giving them a bath before they come back into the house!

Mesa Marin Sports Complex provides water fountains at both dog and people-level and bathrooms.

Seasons Dog Park – For Small Dogs

5am – 10pm
5601 Harris Rd, Bakersfield, CA 93313

Located in southwest Bakersfield on Harris Road, Seasons Dog Park is the best dog park for the smallest fur babies. In fact, the park posts signs to remind people that the park is only for small dogs, although you will see a few dog owners disregard the sign and bring their larger dogs from time to time. The park is small and is rarely busy, so you and your dog will often have the entire place to yourself.

You can bring the entire family and enjoy an afternoon at the shaded park. There is a little play area for kids, a basketball court and a few barbeque grills if you want to have a cook out.

Seasons Dog Park provides waste bags and trash receptacles to make it easy to pick up after your dog. Unfortunately, Seasons Dog Park does not have a parking area and you’ll need to park on the residential streets surrounding the park. It can be a bit of a walk to get to the fenced-in dog park area from your car.
